On May 2, an international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Fairmont Hotel in Baku, jointly organized by the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Cooperation University, and the Union of Economists of Azerbaijan. Before the event, the participants of the conference came to the Alley of Honor and paid tribute to Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of our modern, independent state, the National Leader of our people, and laid flowers in front of his grave. The memory of prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated and flowers were laid on her grave. The plenary session of the international scientific conference held with the participation of prominent scientists, public and political figures from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Pakistan and Georgia, as well as well-known scientists and intellectuals of our republic, was declared open with the singing of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The conference started its work after the video showing the glorious life path of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and the modern relations of the Turkic world. Chairman of the organizing committee of the conference, chairman of the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan, rector of the Azerbaijan Cooperation University, chairman of the Accounts Commission of the Milli Majlis, doctor of economic sciences, professor Eldar Guliyev greeted the guests with an introductory speech. In their speeches, the speakers emphasized that the outstanding statesman, National Leader Heydar Aliyev is a rare figure in the centuries-old statehood history of Azerbaijan and the Turkic world, and that the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, having deeply seen the real essence of the era he lived in, had the power to move the time forward with his clear political position, strong will and foresight. In the conference, the invaluable services of Heydar Aliyev in the establishment of Azerbaijan’s relations with the Turkic world, deepening of relations, as well as in the development of the Azerbaijani ideology and the environment of tolerance in our country were specially mentioned. After the plenary session, the conference continued its work in sections. In the end, the reports of the department heads were accepted by the organization committee and it was decided to print the reports, articles and theses in a collective form, taking into account the proposed proposals and recommendations. With that, the conference concluded its work.
